New Zealand runner Vajin Armstrong running his first ultra marathon in America took first place in the American River 50 Endurance Run April 5th. Armstrong's time was 5:53:32. Finishing second was 47 year old Rich Hanna of Sacramento with a time of 6:05:50, and third place finisher Josh Rydman of Rocklin finished with a time of 6:10:28. Leading the women and repeating her 2011 AR 50 womens victory was Ellie Greenwood of Canada with a time of 6:18:47. Greenwood was 6th overall.
